Topics of Interest in Today's Market: Feng Shui

UTILIZING THE POWER OF FENG SHUI

Using ancient secrets of Feng Shui you can select the right property to buy. If you are willing to take a closer look and be open to new ideas that have been guiding Asian investors for centuries—and real estate magnates like Donald Trump for years—read further.

SOME SIMPLE GUIDELINES OF FENG SHUI

Feng Shui, (pronounced “fung schuay”) translates from the Chinese as ‘wind and water” — the invisible and visible forces of nature that permeate all life. An ancient design philosophy dating back well over thousands of years, Feng Shui provides simple guidelines for living in harmony with nature and achieving a feeling of harmony throughout a space.

Both an art and a science, with the goal of achieving balance and serenity within any environment, Feng Shui works with chi (universal energy), the 5 Elements (fire, earth, metal, water, and wood), and the balancing aspects of yin and yang to bring equilibrium and stability into your spaces and your life.

Feng Shui is all about simplicity and lack of clutter. By ridding your life and space of extra “stuff” you can eliminate any blocks to energetic progress that clutters the mind. Simplicity and flow are key.

RAISE THE CHI, RAISE THE VALUE

Feng Shui is all about understanding how energy moves through a space and in turn how an environment makes us feel. Think of chi moving through a space much like the way water travels through a stream. When the water gently meanders, the flow is gentle and peaceful. However, when water travels in swift, straight lines, the energy is too forceful with destructive results. In Feng Shui this type of harmful energy is called sha chi.

In our homes we want the chi to gently flow through the space unhindered. This results in a less stressful and more peaceful environment. We feel soothed and more “at home” in such a space.

Simply put, individuals will bond faster with homes that have good Feng Shui without realizing why. As a result, when the chi of a property is raised, the value and marketability are raised. When previewing homes, look for regular shapes, healthy foliage and landscaping, plenty of natural light or the potential for more natural light and good ventilation.

Real Estate Tips
Time to Move >Why Not Remodel

When your home starts feeling too small or outmoded, you may think that the solution is to remodel. Although it is a workable solution for many homeowners, others who do extensive remodeling end up selling their homes within a few years of completing the work. The decisions you make about your renovation could have a significant impact on whether you can recover your investment when you sell your home.

Real estate agents see a lot of homes and listen to a lot of buyers. Together with architects and professional kitchen planners, they can offer valuable advice on how to improve a kitchen or bath, or add a room that will increase your family's enjoyment and attract future buyers.

Before you decide to take the remodeling plunge, you should consider whether expensive improvements will over-improve your home in relation to the neighborhood. If you are inclined to make an investment in your home that far exceeds the selling price of other homes in the area, it may be better to sell your present home and buy one that corresponds to your needs.
